Help Stop New Oil Drilling - Send Comment to BLM today

Urgent action needed now: Your comment can help stop new federal oil drilling in Ventura County.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting public comments until this Friday, September 7 regarding their plans to open up new oil leases across California to more drilling and fracking - including lands in Ventura County - Ojai Valley, Sespe Wilderness and more.

Tell the BLM new oil drilling at these locations would risk local water, air quality and public health.

CFROG will continue to monitor the BLM oil leasing process for all locations across the county. Should new leases be sold, the new lease holder - presumably an oil company - would need to negotiate with the property owners for surface access and then get the proper land use permits from the appropriate land use agency - the county in most cases. Putting the ultimate decision about whether new wells get drilled with our local elected Board of Supervisors (county unincorporated land) or City Council members (lands within city boundaries).
