Tell the BLM new oil drilling at these locations would risk local water, air quality and public health.
- Here are details about the BLM "scoping" period at the Federal Registry page.
- And our friends at Los Padres ForestWatch have built a great map HERE showing where these BLM managed leases are located, along with information about the timeline leading up to this scoping period. At that map you'll see the red available BLM leases from the Fillmore and Santa Paula areas, the Sespe Wilderness to Oxnard to the Ventura River Watershed and the Ojai Valley.

CFROG will continue to monitor the BLM oil leasing process for all locations across the county. Should new leases be sold, the new lease holder - presumably an oil company - would need to negotiate with the property owners for surface access and then get the proper land use permits from the appropriate land use agency - the county in most cases. Putting the ultimate decision about whether new wells get drilled with our local elected Board of Supervisors (county unincorporated land) or City Council members (lands within city boundaries).
