Join with your Neighbors to learn about the current effort to expand oil waste injection in the Sespe Oil Field.
The area where the oil company wants permission to inject comes within about 1/2 mile from the Fillmore SubBasin - the only source of drinking water and irrigation water for the City of Fillmore and surrounding areas. Details HERE.
The application is currently being reviewed by the State of California, Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) and the State Water Board. After that review, the application will go to Region 9 of the EPA for final approval.
There is no guarantee that Fillmore's Water will be protected and if approved, if opens up the Sespe Oil Field to more fracking.
*Even though the official comment period has ended, it has been uncovered (by our partner Los Padres ForestWatch) that the state provided in accurate information regarding the distance from the proposed injection zone and the Fillmore Subbasin - we are demanding the state deny the oil companies application in order to protect Fillmore's water.
COME ON MARCH 6 to get details, ask questions AND submit a comment to tell the State:
