Oil and gas production has been declining in Ventura County for decades - even with more wells being drilled - this is evidence of the decline in the productivity of local oil fields and the necessity of Ventura County to diversify the type of industry sectors that contribute to the economic vibrancy of the county.
Other sectors such as: hi-tech industry, renewable energy, and the creative economy should be supported in the same way the oil and gas industry has been throughout Ventura County history, so as to put these sectors on an equal footing with the long entrenched fossil fuel industry.
Ventura County Planning is hosting a series of Focus Group meetings to receive input from stakeholders about various topics related to the General Plan Update.
This General Plan document governs all land use in the county and will be in effect until 2040. The document is currently being updated this is the second round of public outreach meetings to receive input.
