Nesbitt Reactivation Appeal

Come to the public hearing and stand with CFROG!

When -Tuesday, November 1, 1:30 pm

Where - Ventura County Government Center, Board hearing room, 800 Victoria Avenue, Ventura, CA

What - PL15-0060 - CFROG has filed an appeal of Ventura County's approval of the reactivation of three oil wells - including a wastewater injection well under investigation by the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board as potentially injecting into a protected aquifer. The oil lease is currently accessed from the top of Koenigstein Road - but use of the road is in violation of the land use permit. The project also seeks to gain permission to drive oil tank trucks on Koenigstein road. The hearing will be before the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.

NOTE: CFROG just brought information regarding a current investigation by the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board to the County. This constitutes a triggering event that should require a new environmental review - or at least a pause in the application processing until the investigation is concluded - our water is at stake.

See our Oct. 25 letter and supporting documents presented to the planning department HERE.

CFROG is joined in the appeal by Center for Biological Diversity and Los Padres ForestWatch.

How - This is part of the public appeal process. There will be public comment giving you the option to share your views with your elected officials.
