The Ventura County Planning Commission will meet in a public hearing to discuss the recently submitted GenPlan Background Report.
Focus Groups and the public had an opportunity to provide comments on the Background report - VIEW CFROG's comments HERE.
This hearing will be another opportunity for the public to weigh in on the document that creates the official "baseline" for the process moving forward to the Environmental Impact Report for the GenPlan Update. While this Background report is a "living document" and can be amended over the next couple years until the final GenPlan is officially adopted by the Board of Supervisors, getting an accurate and objective "snapshot" of the current state of land use in the County is important.
We know the oil and gas industry has lobbyists working closely with folks in the County government to ensure their goals are incorporated. Well, CFROG - your local watchdog - is pushing back and balancing out the high paid industry lobbyists. We have retained the expert, environmental land use law firm of Shute, Mihaly and Weinberger to advise and represent us in order to ensure our GOALS - which make clean air, water and public health the top priority - are in the GenPlan document that will be in effect until 2040.
